Fairtrade outlets sought on Isle of Man

Are you a retailer or caterer on the Isle of Man selling Fairtrade products? The Isle of Man is currently renewing its status as a Fairtrade Island and, as co-ordinator of the application, the One World Centre Isle of Man is seeking to compile a list of all shops, cafes, restaurants and other outlets who use Fairtrade supplies.

Green Mann Spring offer Pure Spring Water bottled fresh from the heart of the Island. We bring you Green news from the Isle of Man.

The Island first won Fairtrade Island status in July 2008 for its support of fairly-traded goods and produce. Buying Fairtrade ensures that producers, often small-scale businesses in the developing world, are paid a fair price and not exploited by middlemen in the supply chain. This allows the producers to invest in their businesses to make them more sustainable, provide better working conditions and improve the lifestyles of their workers and families in their local area.

One World Director Rosemary Clarke says, “We know already there are a number of shops, cafes and restaurants who have used Fairtrade goods and produce for some time but we would like to build an up to date list of all the outlets where Fairtrade items are available or used. This will help demonstrate the Island’s ongoing commitment to supporting Fairtrade and we can also highlight Fairtrade outlets to potential customers who wish to buy from them.”

Retailers and caterers who use Fairtrade goods and products should contact the One World Centre on 800464 or by email at owciom.org.
